An Artist, busy in his world to reprint the famous London Millennium Footbridge with the backdrop of St Paul's Cathedral over a sunny day.
'London Millennium Bridge' is a steel suspension bridge spanning the river Thames for pedestrians. Designed by Fosters & Partners and excuted by ARUP, the best part of the bridge other than the impressive design is all the suspension cables run below the deck level.

London Architecture: High Rise

The city of London is one among few heritage cities around the globe which respects it's arcitecture. The skyline of the city clearly describes that Londoners are not a big fan of high rise structures. The tall buildings in the city can be counted with finger tips and not to mention most them are commercial towers. Less than 1% of British population do live in high rise apartments and that to either they are singles or newly married. Britishers do have a weakness on independent houses and country sides, that is actually the way they prefer to live. Typical country houses are like essence of British housing culture. And not to mention, the approval process for the high rise is quite a process as the council always tried to maintain few heritage visual axises through-out the city, so one should not be surprised to hear that the tall building approval process in London may take a decade over numerous changes...

So few high-rises from the Capital City...

Heron Tower... One of the recent sustainable development in the city with PV claddings on facade.


The Shard by Renzo Piano... Once completed, it will be the tallest in the city as well as in Western Europe with a height of 310 meters (1,016 feet).


Lloyds by Richard Rogers... A master piece itself.


St Mary Axe (Gherkin) by Foster & Partners... The most impressive landmark and another sustainable high-rise.


Broadgate Towers... A structural marvel.



P.S. The true essence of London is yet to be captured, the heritage... Hopefully someday ;)

This photograph was captured during my first visit to London on a field trip, while sun was playing hide & seek with Tower Bridge, which needs no introduction...

London Fieldtrip

Just returned from a field-trip to London to experience few high rise of the Capital city... Let me confirm you, London is not the city which welcomes TALL structures, as it is in the process of conserve it's royal heritage.

Calender 2011, January

Finally this thing is up, managed to create a quick calender though lately. The year 2010 was quite happening for me, loads of travel, transformation, relocation and also acquisition of mighty Cannon 10-22mm.... which means loads and loads of photographs. But as 'm back to student life, things in my hard drive are messy than anything. I'm even scared to enter to my photography drive...

So with the present resource, this years theme is London. Many of you might have seen most of the pictures in recent months. I can't say that this calender is a great one, as I only visited London once that to not in photography purpose, still I hope you will like it.

Thank you all again for your responses on my maiden attempt to create the 'LADAKH' series calender last year.

St. Pancras International: The home of 'Euro-star'

On of London's most popular landmark, St. Pancras International train station has a rich and colorful history. It is one of the great Victorian building in the city and is considered as home to 'Euro-star' as well as other high speed rail service in UK.

This train station was designed in 1863 by William Barlow, the Engineer in Chief to the Midland Railway Company. 689 ft long, 100 ft high and a span of 243 ft was the largest enclosed space in the whole world for a long period. The most important is the SPAN of 243 ft. The structure was completed in year 1868.



The span of 243 ft, it is incredible.




A creation of sculpture Paul Day, this 9 meter high bronze statue of a couple is known as 'The Meeting Place'.

London Blues

Visited London last month for a field trip and had a good time there. Student Life is just dominating over everything and restricting from all the regular blogging and photographic rituals. So I hope my regular readers will bear with me following small small posts like this :P

As I mentioned, it was a field trip, so most of the frames I captured are mostly related to Architecture... But I hope to be there in the City again soon and to FRAME it the way I want. Hope you will wait for the update.
