GIFT City, Gujrat

'GIFT City' stands for 'Gujarat International Finance Tec-City', another ambitious project by Gujarat government to create a hi-tech CBD. GIFT City is spread over 900 acres of land approx. and is almost equi-distance from Ahmedabad and Gandhi Nagar. With an aim of creating a very high quality infrastructure to cater tech firms and to give an option to firms who are based in Mumbai or Gurgaon.

"To design a CBD that will serve as a paradigm for Next Class city in terms of quality of life, infrastructure and ambiance aiming to be high-density and high-rise, treating land as a precious resource."
This is what the concept behind it, as the official website says.

This is under construction and basic infrastructure is being built. While in Ahmedabad this time, I decided to have a look at the area as I was quite fascinated by the height restriction allowed here. The building heights here can go upto 410 meters... Really Impressive.
To be honest, that world-class feel of the GIFT city was quite prominent even while travelling from Ahmedabad. If I am not wrong, it is a 4-5 km diversion from Ahmedabad-Gandhi Nagar highway. Excellent roads and quality branding leads you to the GIFT City. The glimpses can be seen from the images above...

Dada Harir Ni Vav, Ahmedabad

'Vav' in gujrati means 'StepWell'. In search of some historic location in the city of Ahmedabad, I decided to start with this Baoli (StepWell) and it took me quite sometime on a Sunday afternoon to reach at this beautiful serene location. And not to mention, this 15th century structure was just stunning.

History says, this was built by King Sultan Bai Harir (locally known as Dada Harir) in 1485 AD. This stepwell is 5 level deep and is made of sand stone with beautiful carvings all around.

And it was a quite place to have some my-time... as I ended up with a self-portrait ;)
